The "Reverse Osmosis" Machines

You will see coin-operated water vending machines on many streets. These filter tap water using Reverse Osmosis (RO). While generally safer than tap, maintenance varies. 7-Eleven bottled water is the safest bet for tourists (and very cheap, around 7-10 THB).

Street Food Ice

Is the ice in my Thai Iced Tea safe? Generally, yes. Most vendors buy ice from sanitary ice factories. Look for "tube ice" (cylinders). Crushed ice blocks might be less sanitary but are still commonly consumed without major issues by most travelers.

Brushing Teeth

Using tap water to brush teeth in Bangkok is fine for most people. If you are very worried or have a weak stomach, use bottled water.
